Boise State Students Win at State Career Development Conference,
Qualify to Participate at Nationals
Eleven Boise State University students won awards at the Idaho Delta Epsilon Chi
(DEC) State Career Development Conference March 8-10 in Boise. The following
state winners will compete at the International DEC career conference in Orlando,
Fla., in April.
— Steve Turk, Meridian, 1st place, eCommerce Decision Making; 1st place,
Entrepreneurship
— Keith Essig, Twin Falls, 1st place, Business to Business Marketing
— David Taylor, Boise, 1st place, Business to Business Marketing
— Joshua Miller, Kuna, 1st place, International Marketing; 3rd place, Financial
Services Marketing
— Cassie Lamontagne, Lewiston, 1st place, International Marketing
— Delbert Ogle, Indian Valley, 1st place, Marketing Management; 2nd place,
Travel & Tourism
— Monte Szurgot, Boise, 1st place, Sports & Entertainment Marketing
— Ren Garner, Boise, 1st place, Sports & Entertainment Marketing
— Randall Beck, Boise, 1st place, Entrepreneurship
— Burl Morgan, Mountain Home, 2nd place, Restaurant & Food Services Marketing;
3rd place, Sales Manager Meeting
— Robin Dunn, Boise, 2nd place, Marketing Management
The students competed against DEC members from Idaho State University, College
of Southern Idaho, Eastern Idaho Technical College and Lewis Clark State
College. They will travel to Orlando April 21-25 to compete in their events.
They will be working until then studying for national competition and raising
the funds needed to travel.
Delta Epsilon Chi is an international organization for college students
preparing for a variety of careers. Programs engage students from a variety of
educational disciplines, while maintaining a strong focus on business-related
areas such as marketing, management and entrepreneurship. Activities promoted by
Delta Epsilon Chi integrate with and enhance the student’s college curriculum.
