BSU Criminal Justice Students Excel at Nationals

Members of Boise State University’s Alpha Kappa chapter of the Alpha Phi Sigma honor society for criminal justice students took home a number of awards at the recent APS national conference in Seattle. Boise State students won eight awards, including three awards for the chapter:
• Leadership award: For service and fundraising activities
• Ethics award: For National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE) event and Books for Israel project
• Best Web site award

Individually, members took home the following awards:
• Laura Keys: First prize for best paper in the undergraduate division
• Suzann Lathrop: First prize in the graduate-level paper competition
• Heath Hiatt: First prize in the undergraduate general knowledge test
• Jon Cooper: First prize in the graduate general knowledge test
• Lathrop, Pam Hall and Amanda Freeman: College bowl

Cooper is the APS president and Andy Giacomazzi, chair of the Department of Criminal Justice Administration, is the group’s adviser.
