Boise State Women's Center Names Winners in Women Making History
Art Exhibition
The Women’s Center at Boise State University has selected three winners in the
Women’s History Month National Juried Exhibition. The annual exhibition drew 92
entries by 28 artists. The jurors selected 24 works by 15 artists for the final
exhibition, which wrapped up in March. This year’s jurors were Jennie Myers,
Laurie Blakeslee and Julie Clemons.
The winning artists are as follows:
— Lahib Jaddo, Best in Show. “I relate to the universe around me visually, so I
paint to understand my inner worlds,” she said. “I have lived half my life in
the old world, the Middle East, and half of it in this new world. My work is a
reflection of that mix. I don’t define myself or my art as being one or the
other.”
— Randi Lynn Beach, second place, is an award-winning photographer who has spent
the past 12 years working in editorial, non-profit, and documentary photography.
Her photographs have appeared in Rolling Stone, People, Seventeen, the Los
Angeles Times, the New York Times and The Washington Post, among other
publications.
— Anna Paradis, third place, is originally from Kansas, but moved to Idaho from
Germany where she was serving in the U.S. Air Force. She is a student at Boise
State working on a bachelor of fine arts degree with an emphasis in printmaking.
