Boise State University Establishes Memorial Scholarship in Honor
of Slain Student Brad Morse
Boise State University has established a memorial scholarship in honor of
Bradley Morse, a senior majoring in computer science who was found shot to death
earlier this month on the grounds of the Idaho Parks and Recreation Department
where he worked as a part-time custodian.
Faculty in the Department of Computer Science at Boise State began the
scholarship drive by making pledges totaling more than $7,000. The scholarship
will be offered to an undergraduate student majoring in computer science.
“Brad was a very good student. We hope the scholarship recipient will take the
time to find out a little about him and celebrate being the beneficiary of a
scholarship in his honor,” said John Griffin, chair of the Department of
Computer Science.
Boise State will also be awarding a bachelor of science degree posthumously to
Morse at its commencement ceremony on May 12 at Taco Bell Arena and his name
will appear in the program.
A standout student, Morse had been named to the Dean’s List for three semesters
by earning at least a 3.5 grade point average. He was described by his
professors at Boise State as an academically talented and dedicated student who
would have had a very bright future in his chosen field of computer science.
Donations to the Brad Morse Memorial Computer Science Endowed Scholarship can be
mailed to the Boise State University Foundation, 2225 W. University Drive,
Boise, ID 83706.
