"Return to Learn" Month at Boise State Urges People to Come Back
to the Classroom
For the second straight year, Boise State University has declared May as “Return
to Learn” month with special services to connect prospective students with
campus representatives who will help them develop individualized academic plans.
A unique phone number and Web site have been set up to help people learn about
their best options for returning to school.
“We are encouraging people to come back to the classroom for job training,
degree completion or adult learning,” said Student Services Coordinator Diana
Fairchild. “This month it has never been easier to get the answers to your
questions about transferring credits, paying for classes or graduate school.
Whatever your concern is, we want to knock down those perceived barriers to
earning a diploma.”
Enrollment counselors and academic advisors are available by calling the Boise
State “learning line” at (208) 562-3127 or sending an e-mail to
returntolearn@boisestate.edu.
A unique Web site is available at
http://returntolearn.boisestate.edu. Individual
appointments can also be scheduled in the daytime or evening at the main Boise
State campus or the Boise State West campus in Nampa.
Fairchild assists people trying to obtain their GEDs, bachelor’s degrees,
master’s degrees or just wanting to take classes for fun and enjoyment. Adult
education is tailored for people who work during the day with evening and
weekend classes. Another option is learning from home via the computer.
“For someone who has not attended school recently, the biggest change is the
evolution of functions that are now done via the Web,” Fairchild said. “Applying
for admission, registering for classes, and applying for financial aid are just
a few of the processes that are now done online. For some people, this may seem
intimidating at first, but one appointment can set the stage for an easy
transition.”
Different summer sessions begin in May, June and July. The admission deadline
for undergraduate, degree-seeking applicants for the fall 2007 semester is July
18. Students who miss this deadline will be considered for non-degree-seeking
(part-time) status. Boise State’s fall semester begins Aug. 27.
