Boise State University to Break Ground on Student Union
Expansion on May 8
The Boise State University will break ground on a Student Union expansion on
May 8, marking the event with a celebration beginning at 11 a.m. on the
Student Union Patio.
President Robert Kustra, Associated Students of Boise State University
President Amy Ortmann, Vice President for Student Affairs Michael Laliberte,
and Director of the Student Union and Student Involvement Leah Barrett will
speak and break ground for the expansion at 12:30 p.m. Free hotdogs and
hamburgers will be available from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
The renovation and expansion of the Student Union is designed to meet the
needs of Boise State’s growing student population, which includes a mix of
commuter and residential students. The total projected cost is $30.65
million, which includes 66,000 new square feet as well as renovation of the
existing 27,000 square feet.
When the project is finished in June 2009, the Table Rock Café will have
moved to the first floor, another ballroom will have been added, and there
will be more places for students to study and socialize and for student
clubs to meet.
