Final Week of "Return to Learn" Month at Boise State

This is the final week of Boise State’s “Return to Learn” campaign, which encourages prospective students to come back to the classroom to earn degrees and certificates, receive additional job training and explore personal interests. Throughout the month of May, Boise State’s campaign has produced a steady stream of requests for appointments from people interested in continuing education.

Enrollment counselors and academic advisors are available by calling the Boise State “learning line” at (208) 562-3127 or sending an e-mail to returntolearn@boisestate.edu. A unique Web site is available at http://returntolearn.boisestate.edu. Individual appointments can also be scheduled in the daytime or evening at the main Boise State campus or the Boise State West campus in Nampa.

“The best thing about the learning line and e-mail is that it gets prospective students directly to a person who can answer their questions without being transferred to someone else,” said Diana Fairchild, Student Services Coordinator for Boise State University.

Advisors are available to answer questions about credit transfers, educational tracts and financial aid options. Fairchild noted that after their “Return to Learn” appointments, people have a renewed desire to go back to school and finish their degree.

“One gentleman was only three classes away from completing his degree but, because of his work schedule, was unable to take classes during the day,” said Fairchild. “We found a new educational path that he could take in the evenings in order to finish his degree. He was excited to learn that Boise State offered new programs that would fit into his schedule.” Boise State has tailored adult education by offering evening and weekend classes as well as online education.

Different summer sessions begin in May, June and July. The admission deadline for undergraduate, degree-seeking applicants for the fall 2007 semester is July 18. Students who miss this deadline will be considered for non-degree-seeking (part-time) status. Boise State’s fall semester begins Aug. 27.
