Idaho Center for the Book Presents Exhibition of Barbara Michener Books

Crème de la Crème          Immersed

The Idaho Center for the Book, an affiliate of the Library of Congress Center for the Book located at Boise State University, will present an exhibition of bookworks by Barbara Michener from June 2-30. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

“Créme de la Créme/Old Romance/At the Kitchen Table, Say Grace, Please/Immersed/Up the Lemhi, the Trappings of Oliver Williams/Diamonds of Glass/Dwayne’s Demons … and 17 additional artists’ books” were inspired by Idaho pioneers, Michener said in her artist statement.

“Interviews of unique personalities who survived on pioneer skills were combined with one-of-a-kind handmade books,” Michener said. “I am especially interested in the textures, lines, colors and forms that nature provides. Through the use of stone, wood, fur, feathers, leather, plants and paper, I tell stories of people who exemplify Western character.”
