'Who do you think you are?' Exhibition at Boise State Features
Self-Portraits by Air Force, National Guard
“Who Do You Think You Are?” an exhibition of self-portraits, will be on
display at the Boise State University Student Union Gallery until Aug. 18.
The gallery, located on the second floor of the Student Union, is open daily
and admission is free.
The self-portraits include paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and
mixed media pieces. The work was created by art students from classes held
at Mountain Home Air Force Base and Gowen Field Air National Guard Base. Many of the
students represented are currently enlisted in the Air Force, while others
have finished their contracts and are retired or pursuing careers outside
the military. For the majority of students this was their first art project
and first self-portrait.
These portraits were specifically chosen by adjunct professor Jessie Proksa
for this exhibition because of their bold visual impact, innovative use of
materials and expressive content.
