New Heavy Equipment Technician Training Program Enrolling Now
at Selland College of Applied Technology
The Larry Selland College of Applied Technology at Boise State University is
now enrolling for a new heavy equipment technician training program.
Those who have an interest in becoming master mechanics or service
technicians are encouraged to consider the new program. Heavy equipment
technicians are among the highest paid in mechanical trades, with many
experienced ones making more than $50,000 annually.
“Local companies need technicians,” said Dan Cadwell, Selland transportation
program manager. “Western States CAT alone has dozens of heavy equipment
technician positions open in the Northwest.”
Students gain hands-on experience that prepares them to diagnose, repair and
maintain heavy vehicles used in industries such as mining, logging,
drilling, agriculture and construction. The vehicles include bulldozers,
cranes, graders, backhoes, tractors and more. Technicians work in shops and
also provide service at construction or other sites.
The program will accept eight students on a first-come, first-served basis.
It is expected to fill quickly. For more information, contact the college at
426-1431 or visit the Web site at
