BSU Office of Advancement Hires Two New Employees
Two new employees have joined Boise State University’s Office of University
Advancement.

Kelly Palmer has been named the new director of development for the
College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs, effective Aug. 20. In her new
position, Palmer will work to raise funds for the college through private,
corporate and foundation donations. She is responsible for the
identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospective and
major gift donors to the university.
Palmer comes to Boise State with seven years of experience in higher
education fundraising. As Major Gifts Officer at Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute in Troy, N.Y., she managed, cultivated and solicited a portfolio
of 350 alumni and achieved an annual goal of at least $750,000. She was also
responsible for the development of a young alumni solicitor program, as well
as the recruitment, training and management of 40 volunteers.
“We are excited that Kelly has chosen to join Boise State as a development
officer for the College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs. There is a
need to cultivate friends and donors to move SSPA programs forward, and we
look forward to working with Kelly on this,” said Shelton Woods, interim
dean of the College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs.

Mike Journee has been named the assistant director of media relations
for the Office of Communications and Marketing, effective Aug. 20. Journee
comes to Boise State from Scott Peyron & Associates and was press secretary
to former Gov. Dirk Kempthorne. In his new position, he will act as media
liaison to the College of Engineering and the science units of the College
of Arts and Sciences, as well as working closely to develop strong media
relationships.
Journee earned his bachelor’s degree in history and English, with a minor in
journalism, from Stephen F. Austin State University. He worked for several
years as a reporter and editor, most recently at the Idaho Statesman.
