Galing Galing Festival Brings Diverse Filipino Culture to
Boise State University
Galing Galing, an annual festival that celebrates Filipino culture, will be
held at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Boise State University Special Events Center.
Tickets are $10 general and $8 students through the Student Union Info Desk
or by calling Evangeline Beaver at (208) 426-5950. Admission for children
younger than 5 is free. Galing Galing is sponsored by the Boise State
student organization BARCADA and the by the Cultural Center.
This year’s theme is “Isang Lahi, We Are One People” and the festival will
feature the Philippines’ national dance, Tinikling, as well as a Chinese fan
dance, a Filipino fan dance, modern dances and Filipino songs. The music and
dances incorporate Spanish rhythms as well as cha-cha, bachata, swing,
hustle and Lindy Hop dance styles.
Free parking will be available in the Liberal Arts parking lot. Raffle
tickets will be on sale for $1; all proceeds will benefit the Boise State
University Foundation BARCADA fund. For more information, call (208)
