Boise State University's Homecoming 'Bronco Nation Roundup'
Features Parade, Contests, Reunions
Boise State University’s homecoming week kicks off Sept. 8 with activities
for alumni, Bronco fans and the whole family. This year’s “Bronco Nation
Roundup” culminates when the Broncos take on Wyoming on Sept. 15 on the blue
turf.
New this year is the Bronco Nation Invasion Street Festival and Pep Rally in
BoDo featuring a special presentation by Coach Pete, performances by the
Maneline Dancers and the Cheer Squad, family activities, a beer garden, and
music by Blue County and Relient K.
Here is the Homecoming schedule:
• Service Saturday. 9 a.m. Sept. 8. Student Union Brava! Stage (first
floor dining area). Homecoming week kicks off with a community outreach
project involving Boise State students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Participants will volunteer with local organizations and agencies; most
projects will be completed by noon. Call the Boise State Volunteer Services

• Campus Decorating Contest. Registration deadline: Aug. 31.
Decorating kits delivered: Sept. 4. Judging: Sept. 10, West Campus; Sept.
11, Main Campus. Sign-up location: Student Union. The decorating contest
will take place on Monday, Sept. 10, for the West Campus and Tuesday, Sept.
11, for the main campus. Each office that has signed up by Friday, Aug. 31,
will get a starter bag of decorations.
• Toilet Bowl Co-Rec Flag Football Tournament. 4-10 p.m. Sept. 10,
Bronco Stadium. The Toilet Bowl is one of the oldest Boise State Homecoming
traditions. Participants play on the blue turf at Bronco Stadium. The Toilet
Bowl is free for participants and attendees, but space is limited to the
first 16 teams. Register at Campus REC from Aug. 27-Sept. 4.
• Residence Hall Decorating Contest. Judging from 1-4 p.m. Sept. 12.
The Boise State Alumni Association’s executive board has issued a challenge
to the residence halls to see which can show the most spirit. The winning
floor will be announced at the Student Spirit Competition. The prize is a
pizza party.
• Community Decorating Contest. 5 p.m. Sept. 7. Send a photo to
homecoming@boisestate.edu by
Sept. 7 to enter. Include business name, address and contact phone number.
First-place winners will be announced on Bronco Vision during the Homecoming
game. Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place winners.
• Student Programs Board Homecoming Treat. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 11 on
the Quad. Free treats. Call (208) 426-1223 for more information.
• Distinguished Alumni Awards Banquet. 6 p.m. reception and 6:45 p.m.
dinner, Sept. 12, Student Union Hatch Ballroom. The Boise State Alumni
Association will honor Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter, ’64, first lady Lori Otter,
’92, Christine Echeverria Bender, ’77, Doug Hackler, ’98 and William “Bill”
Ilett, ’65, for their outstanding accomplishments. For more information,

• Student Programs Board Homecoming Madness. 5-9 p.m. Sept. 13,
Student Union Patio. Free food and concert. Call the Student Programs Board

• Bronco Nation Invasion Street Festival and Pep Rally. 7-8:30 p.m.:
music and family activities; 8:30 p.m.: pep rally; 9-10:30 p.m.: street
dance, BoDo. The fans are invading downtown Boise before the Broncos invade
the infield. Join former classmates, current students and Bronco fans at
BoDo for a special presentation by Coach Pete, the Maneline Dancers, the
Boise State Cheer Squad, music, family activities, beer garden, food and

• Blue Thunder Marching Band 20th Anniversary Reunion. 6-8 p.m. Sept.

Catherine Stein Band Hall. Alumni Marching Band Tailgate Party, noon Sept.

• 50 Year-Plus Class Reunion — Honoring the Class of 1957. 2 p.m.
campus tour, 6 p.m. no-host cocktail reception, 7 p.m. dinner, Sept. 13,
Allen Noble Hall of Fame Gallery. Members of the class of 1957 are invited
to celebrate the golden anniversary of their graduation from Boise Junior
College. All graduates from the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s are invited. For more

get ready to take the field and the fans celebrate in true Bronco spirit.
