Boise State University's Visual Arts Center Presents Two New Exhibitions

The Visual Arts Center at Boise State University presents the 2007 Art Department Faculty Exhibition through Sept. 29 and “Salt Lake to Boise: Invitational Exchange Exhibition” from Oct. 15-Nov. 3. Admission to both exhibitions is free.

The annual Department of Art exhibition in Galleries 1 and 2 in the Liberal Arts Building and Hemingway Center, respectively, features new work by faculty in the areas of graphic design, printmaking, drawing, painting, illustration, photography, sound, video, ceramics, sculpture, metals and installation.

The art departments at Boise State and the University of Utah have partnered to share exhibitions of students’ work at the Visual Arts Center in Boise and at the Alvin Gittins Gallery in Salt Lake City from Oct. 15-Nov. 3 in Gallery 1 in the Liberal Arts Building. The Visual Arts Center show features work by undergraduate students and faculty from the sculpture/intermedia program at the University of Utah, featuring foundry, wood and metal fabrication as well as computer applications, digital video and printmaking. Admission is free; an opening reception will be from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 19.

The Visual Arts Center is open from September through May and closed during university holidays. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, noon-4 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday.

The Visual Arts Center at Boise State organizes and presents a variety of local, regional, national and international visual art exhibitions and the Visiting Artist and Scholar Program. The VAC features two gallery spaces and exhibits the work of students and faculty in addition to emerging, mid-career and internationally established contemporary artists. Eight to 10 gallery exhibitions annually introduce the depth and diversity of contemporary art to new viewers and expand the knowledge and interest of informed audiences. Faculty, bachelor of fine art and master of fine art students show their work annually at the VAC, making it a center for the presentation and exchange of ideas, methods and research. The galleries are the Department of Art’s most visible form of university and community outreach for stimulating ideas and evoking creativity for students, faculty, staff and the public.
