Boise State Health Fair Encourages the Community to 'Activate
Wellness' at the Student Recreation Center
The 11th annual Boise State University REACH health fair will be from 10
a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Student Recreation Center (the REC).
The health fair, themed “Activate Wellness: No Membership Required,” is free
and attendees are encouraged to visit the many vendor booths for free
information on health topics such as diabetes, nutrition, fitness and
massage. Additionally, health screenings (bone density), flu shots ($20 for
students, $25 for faculty), glucose testing and the meningitis vaccine
($135) will be available and can be paid for with cash or personal check.
The REACH Health Fair is an annual event that showcases the collaborative
outreach efforts between kinesiology professor Caile Spear’s Health
Promotion Club and community resources and vendors. Attendees are encouraged
to ask questions, take free information and become active as a step toward
activating their personal wellness. Because the scope of health is so
diverse (financial, spiritual, physical, etc.), vendors will include Big
Brothers-Big Sisters, MADD, the Milan Institute, Boise RunWalk, Costco and
the Boise State Health and Wellness Center. All Boise State faculty and
staff will be allowed one hour of release time, with approval of their
supervisor, so they may attend the REACH health fair.
All health fair attendees are eligible to win door prizes that will be
presented every 15 minutes. Donated prizes include Flying Pie pizza
certificates, physical therapy sessions, signed Boise State sports equipment
and spa packages. Limited free parking will be available the day of the
event in the parking lot on the corner of Lincoln and University. For more
information call (208) 426-3656 or e-mail
