Students Test Their Knowledge During the 2007 Boise State
University College Bowl
University students can test their brain power during “College Bowl: Extreme
Sports for the Mind” from 1-7 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Boise State University
Student Union Barnwell Room.
College Bowl is a game of academic knowledge and quick recall. Now in its
ninth year at Boise State, the College Bowl campus program has been a
popular tradition on college campuses for 29 years. Boise State is among
more than 300 higher education institutions participating in College Bowl
2007.
Like the popular radio and television series of the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s,
the game features two teams of four players competing to score points by
answering toss-up and bonus questions. Teams will compete in preliminary
rounds, with top scoring teams advancing to final rounds where they will
compete for cash prizes.
The questions cover topics from literature, science, history, geography,
religion, social sciences, multicultural topics and the arts to popular
culture, sports and current events. The highest individual scorers of the
campus tournament will earn spots on the Boise State All-Star team, which
will represent the university at the regional championship tournament in
Seattle in February.
To participate in the College Bowl, pick up a registration packet at the
Student Union Information Desk by Nov. 7. A $5 refundable registration will
be charged to each team. The Boise State competition is open to faculty and
staff, but the All-Star team must consist of students. For more information
or to volunteer, contact Kara Fink at 426-5951 or
