EXHIBITION:
Through Dec. 12. “Hammered: Contemporary Ideas in Art Metal Design.”
Student Union Gallery. This exhibition celebrates the multiple talents of
student artists in the Boise State Art Metals Club. Reception from 6-8 p.m.
Nov. 16. Free parking will be available during the reception in Parking
Structure #2, corner of University Drive and Lincoln Avenue. This reception
is in conjunction with the BFA Thesis Exhibition in Galleries 1 and 2 of the

Sunday, Nov. 4
“Under Construction.” Special Events Center. 2 p.m. Experience
innovative and enthralling dance as Idaho Dance Theatre begins its 19th
season. IDT will premier Marla Hansen’s newest work, “Face the Wind,” and

Monday, Nov. 5
Canadian Glaciologist Hester Jiskoot. Engineering Technology Building
Room 110. 7-8:30 p.m. Jiskoot will speak on environmental sustainability and
the effects of climate change on glaciers. Jiskoot is an assistant professor
of physical geography at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada,
with a background in physical geography and glaciology. She also has studied
how different cultures deal with environmental sustainability and their

Inside Criminal Minds. Special Events Center. 7 p.m. America’s most
wanted, Ed Miller, has a collection of experiences about getting inside the

Wednesday, Nov. 7
Award-winning Author Charles Baxter. Multipurpose Classroom Building
Room 101. 7:30 p.m. Charles Baxter is the author of four novels, “Saul and
Patsy,” “Shadow Play,” “First Light,” and “Feast of Love,” a National Book
award finalist that was recently adapted into a film. His fifth novel, “Soul
Thief,” is due out in February from Pantheon Books. Baxter is also the
author of four short-story collections, has released three collections of
poetry and a book of essays, and has edited or co-edited a number of books.

Jonathan Mann. Morrison Center. 7:30 p.m. Pianist Mann is a
University of Idaho faculty member who will perform piano music in a variety

Jazz Bash with the BSU Vocal Jazz Choir and Jazz Ensemble. Special

Free Movie, “The Battle of Algiers.” Student Union Forum. French film
directed by Gillo Pontecorvo. This movie covers the conflict that arose

Friday/Saturday, Nov. 9-10
‘Tunnel of Oppression.’ Student Union Hatch Ballroom. 10 a.m.
Returning to Boise State University for the third year, the Tunnel is a
visual, theatrical and interactive production that helps raise consciousness
about various forms of oppression. Visitors pass through a series of
dramatic vignettes and learn about the many forms of discrimination. This
year’s theme is “Question Everything,” directed by Steven Wells of Boise
State’s Gateway Center. After the presentations there will be discussions
about the program’s content and how to get involved in the community.

Guest Artist James Edwards. Morrison Center recital Hall. 7:30 p.m.
Guitarist James Edwards will perform a concert of his original compositions
with special guest and Boise State professor Craig Purdy, violin, $5

Saturday, Nov. 10
Classic Performance Series. Student Union Special Events Center. 8
p.m. Featuring cellist Alexandre Bouzlov. According to the New York Times,
Bouzlov “makes the instrument sing.” Born in Moscow, Russia, Bouzlov began
cello studies at the age of 6. He later won the Young Concert Artists
European Auditions in 2000, and the YCA International Auditions one year
later. Since winning first place in the 2000 New Names Foundation
Competition in Moscow he has captivated audience around the world. $12
general, $8 Boise State faculty, staff and alumni, $5 students and seniors.

Flag Ceremony. Quad. 12:30 p.m. ROTC cadets will lower and then raise
the flag, followed by the National Anthem. Armored Humvee and equipment
displayed on Quad, with yellow ribbons handed out by the Marines. Call

“Service to Country.” Quad. 5-6 p.m. A keynote speech will be given
by Brigadier General Alan Gayhart. Posting of the Colors, Color guard,

Chainsaw Juggling Mad Chad. Hatch Ballroom. 7-8 p.m. A juggler and
risk-taker from age 13, Mad Chad has juggled it all. Mad Chad has appeared
on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Last Call with Carson Daily” and even
“The Donny and Marie Show.” Mad Chad puts on a wild show that is bone

For the 10th time in the last year 11 years, Boise State University has
set an all-time record for Idaho higher education institutions with an
enrollment of 19,540 – an overall increase of 3.5 percent. A record freshman
class of 2,280 students is also the most academically talented group ever to
enter Boise State, including 12 National Merit finalists.
