Boise State Students Race to Collect More Canned Food than
University of Idaho Students Before Big Game
Students at Boise State University are gearing up for Saturday’s football
game against the University of Idaho by competing in a friendly rivalry to
benefit the Idaho Food Bank.
Last year’s inaugural competition was so successful that the schools decided
to make it a permanent feature before the annual game. Donations will be
accepted until Friday, when the Idaho Food Bank will tally up the donations.
The winner will be announced at halftime and will take home a trophy made
especially for the occasion.
“The whole idea is to promote the rivalry while benefiting the Idaho Food
Bank and the citizens of Idaho,” said Associated Students of Boise State Sen.
Mariah Fowler.
Collection bins are scattered throughout the Student Union and buildings on
campus, and food can be dropped off at the ASBSU offices on the first floor
of the Student Union. The Idaho Food Bank also is receiving donations at its
distribution center; donors can designate whether they would like the food
to be counted toward Boise State or the University of Idaho. The drive
continues through 10 a.m. Nov. 16.
