White, a professor of finance, received his Ph.D. in economics from Texas
A&M University and his bachelor’s in economics from Washburn University in
Topeka, Kan. He spent four years on the finance faculty at Northeast
Louisiana University before accepting a position at Boise State 20 years
ago. His areas of research and consulting expertise include business
valuation, corporate finance, exchange risk management, capital structure
and cost of capital. His publications include articles in the Canadian
Journal of Economics, Land Economics, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking
and the Journal of Risk and Insurance.
Anson, a professor of information technology, was selected this summer for
the position of faculty ombudsman for the university, a new position for
Boise State. This half-time position will allow Anson to continue some
teaching/service assignments, while developing and initiating the
responsibilities for this new position. His current research interests
include business process design, team technologies, ITIL process
implementation and ERP implementation. Anson’s recent awards include adviser
of the year for the College of Business and Economics, and the Faculty
Partner Award.
John Elorriaga is a 1949 graduate of Boise Junior College who went on to a
successful career in banking. He has said that several professors were
instrumental in his success and has created fellowships and professorships
at Boise State to honor them. White and Anson will receive annual stipends
as part of the award.
“We deeply appreciate John Elorriaga’s generosity and longstanding
commitment to Boise State,” said Howard Smith, Boise State Vice President
for University Advancement. “The fellowships pay lasting tribute to the
faculty members who work tirelessly to ensure that our students succeed.”
