Building For The Future
The university has improved its academic and social environment with the addition of several important buildings in the past two years. The completed projects include:
Harry W. Morrison Civil Engineering Building and Micron Engineering Center � classrooms, laboratories and offices for engineering programs.
Parking Structure I � located near Morrison Center, accommodates 650 vehicles.
Extended Studies Building � offices for evening, summer session and other Extended Studies programs.
Alumni Center �former optical center on University Drive renovated for use by Alumni Office and Career Center.
Center for Horticulture Technology � new greenhouses and other facilities for horticulture program.
Several other projects are under construction or in the planning stages:
Boise State West � infrastructure construction in progress and planning under way for first buildings.
Steve Appleton Outdoor Tennis Complex � six outdoor tennis courts and stadium seating for 1,200 spectators.
Student Recreation Center � courts, weight rooms, exercise rooms and other facilities.
Langroise House � restoration of the historic home on Warm Springs Avenue into a president�s residence.
In addition, the university also added the Gateway Center for student advising programs and a sculpture to memorialize the late Janet Hay; made improvements to the Bob Gibb Friendship Bridge and Greenbelt; restored Christ Chapel; added a research greenhouse for biology programs; converted a medical clinic into the Bronco Football Center; and built new soccer fields.
Three Boise State buildings received awards from Intermountain Contractor magazine: the Allen Noble Hall of Fame for most outstanding small public project in 1998, the Micron Engineering Center for best public project in 2000 and Parking Structure I for best concrete structure in 2000.
