Same-sex wedding and civil unions presentation.
Jordan A Ballroom. 4 p.m. Part of LGBT Diversity Week,
this presentation will highlight the current civil union
legislation in different states and the fight to
legalize civil unions. The event will include a
demonstration of a same-sex wedding and civil union as
well as explore the importance of such unions.

Four Season Bicycle Commuting Clinic. Boise

If you are new to bicycle commuting or just have
questions about commuting through the four seasons, the
Bicycle Commuting clinic is for you. Presentations will
be made by Idaho Mountain Touring staffers Kevin Pavlis
on equipment and Antonio Gonzales on bike maintenance.
Joining the IMT guys will be Marti Stephen, who served
for eight years as mountain biking editor of VeloNews.
Marti will offer some tips for people on tight budgets,

Galing Galing Festival. Student Union Special
Events Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., the show starts
at 6 p.m. Galing Galing is an annual festival that
celebrates Filipino culture. This year’s Galing Galing
theme is “Day Off” and will feature stand-up comedy by
Dan Gabriel, followed by music and dancing. Following
the dance portion of the evening, the festivities will
continue in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom D with a
buffet of traditional Filipino foods and dance lessons.
Galing Galing is presented by BARCADA, a Boise State
student Filipino group, as well as the Cultural Center

MFA Reading Series Featuring Pamela Johnston.

in Boise and graduated from the University of Idaho
before relocating to the Midwest. Johnston’s first
novel, “Little Lost River,” was released earlier this
year. Set in Boise in the 1980s, it is “an unforgettable
novel about two generations, mothers and daughters,

“Redefining America: Examining How Latinos are
Reshaping the U.S.” Boise State University Special
Events Center. 7 p.m. The lecture is based on the
results of the 2006 Latino National Survey. Luis Fraga,
who was one of six principal investigators in the
survey, will use findings from the survey to discuss the
presence, diversity, political attitudes and behaviors
of Latinos in the United States. The lecture is
presented by the Boise State Political Science
Department and is sponsored by the department’s new
Latin American/Latino studies minor, Cultural Center,
SSPA Dean’s Office, Academic Affairs and Student

Mortenson’s appearance is part of Boise State’s First
Year Read program. “Three Cups of Tea” tells the story
of Greg Mortenson, a great American hero who sold
everything and lived in his car to make good on his
promise to an impoverished Pakistani village to build a
school for its children. Mortenson combines his unique
background with his intimate knowledge of the third
world to fight terrorism with books, not bombs, and
successfully bring education and hope to remote villages
in central Asia. There are no tickets; seating is

Classroom 7-8 p.m. Learn about Nordic ski and snowshoe
opportunities just north of Idaho City. You will get a
visual tour of the 55 mile long Park N' Ski trail system
and the five backcountry yurts. If you plan to ski or
snowshoe the deep powder at one of the yurts this winter
this program will help you plan a fun and safe trip.
