The community is invited to support a Boise State University scholarship fundraising program by texting a donation through their mobile devices. By texting the word “BRONCOS” to 27722, participants can make a $10 donation to Boise State’s General Scholarship Fund.

“Scholarships are essential in attracting and retaining high-ability students to the university,” said Boise State President Bob Kustra. “Contributions to the general scholarship fund allow Boise State to offer a world of innovative learning to every student regardless of their financial situation. Our generous scholarship donors have long been committed to opening doors of opportunity for Boise State students.”

A single text can add up to a big difference in the life of a student. The availability of scholarships is often the determining factor in where, or if, a student will attend college. To compete for the best and brightest students, Boise State must continually expand its capacity to provide scholarships. These opportunities help ensure a well-educated, highly skilled and professional work force.

Bethany Sigurdson, a piano performance major from Ontario, Ore., who also is taking pre-med classes in hopes of becoming a doctor, is one example of how scholarships affect students with promise.

“Receiving these scholarships has allowed me to attend Boise State and be a member of one of the best music programs in the Northwest,” she said. “The scholarships have also reinforced my drive and desire to do well academically.”

Although the text-to-give program is ongoing, one lucky donor at the Boise State v. Oregon State football game on Saturday, Sept. 25, will receive a football autographed by the team.

Boise State students will greet football fans at Bronco Stadium entrances on Sept. 25 and provide information on how to text a donation. At half time, Kustra will join representatives from Bronco Sports television partner KTVB and Boise State General Scholarship Fund sponsor Fidelity Investments on the field to assist Boise State students in throwing footballs at a target in order to earn additional donations.

Note: $10 will be added to your mobile phone bill or deducted from your prepaid account. Message and data rates may apply. Reply “STOP” to 27722 to cancel the donation. Full terms are available at mGive.org/T.
