Boise State e-Camp. For boys and girls exiting grades 8 and 9. $200 per camper (scholarships available). Campers will use hands-on activities and projects involving problem solving and teamwork to explore careers in engineering and computer science while living on campus in a college dormitory. Boise State Chamber Music Camp. For musicians in grades 7-12. 8 a.m.-8 p.m. $230. On-site housing and meals are available for an additional charge. A limited number of scholarships for tuition are available. Curriculum includes small and large ensembles, music theory, camp choir, opera theater, music appreciation and master classes in string, woodwind, brass, percussion, keyboard, voice, jazz improvisation and more. A new component for this year’s camp is “total percussion,” which will provide instruction on keyboard percussion, snare drumming, set playing, marching band percussion and percussion ensemble performance. A Chamber Camp Idol skit and talent extravaganza will be performed for families and friends on Thursday night. This is not a “learn to swim camp” — swimmers must have a background in the four competitive strokes. Participants will be divided to learn and practice with peers of similar age and skill levels. Summer DanceFest offers the highest quality training for today’s dancer during two weeks of intensive training in ballet, pointe, men’s class, pas de deux, jazz, modern dance and choreography. It is the place to gain technique, core strength, versatility of style and performing experience. Conducted in the Morrison Center, the camp consists of workshops for dancers at an intermediate to advanced technique level. Exploring Honors. For high school students entering their sophomore-senior years. $200; $65 for optional one-credit academic credit. Get a taste of what it means to be part of an Honors College at a dynamic and growing university. The Honors College at Boise State and Concurrent Enrollment Services invites motivated high-ability students to apply for a five-day camp where they will live and learn in an Honors community. Participants will combine classroom experiences taught by Boise State and Honors College faculty with the experience of actually living in the Honors residence hall. Students will get a sample of typical Honors courses across a variety of disciplines, each one encouraging them to explore and expand their perspective. Beyond the classroom, they also will get a sample of the kinds of activities in which Honors students regularly engage, including lab work, field trips, plays, movie night at Driscoll Hall and leadership activities. STEM Summer Adventure. For incoming Boise State freshmen ages 17-21 who are majoring in science, technology, engineering or math. $100 (some scholarships are available). The summer adventure is a math-science learning experience that uses outdoor-based activities as a fun laboratory for learning. Participants will raft and camp on the Payette River north of Boise. Program faculty, scientists and outdoor instructors will use activities and group facilitation to focus on community building, forming new relationships and learning about the geology, astronomy, hydrology, wildlife and human history of the Payette River Basin. This program is funded by a National Science Foundation grant. Therefore, all participants must be either citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Apply by July 28.
