Where to Park for Sept. 20 “Les Miz” Shows

By: Kathleen Tuck   Published 7:37 am / September 18, 2012

Due to class sessions and the Boise State football game against BYU on Thursday, Sept. 20, parking for the 2 p.m. Broadway in Boise production of “Les Miserables” in the Morrison Center will be extremely limited on the Boise State campus.

Accessible Parking

Patrons needing accessible parking are advised to park on campus by the Morrison Center. The T reserved lot nearest the Morrison Center will have a portion of the lot reserved for those with accessible needs. An accessible placard or license plate will be required to utilize the accessible event parking area.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up

To drop off patrons at the Morrison Center, arrive at least one hour prior to the start of the show due to the additional traffic anticipated on campus. Patrons entering from Brady Street will be directed to drop off in front of the academic entrance of the Morrison Center. Patrons entering from Earle Street will be directed to drop off on Cesar Chavez Lane in front of the Morrison Center (riverside). To pick up patrons after the show, drivers are to enter from Brady Street and head westbound on Cesar Chavez Lane, as shuttles will be staged on Cesar Chavez Lane westbound to exit onto Capitol Boulevard.

Broadway In Boise Subscriber Parking

Subscribers of Broadway in Boise (BIB) with pre-purchased parking passes will have reserved parking in the T reserved lot or the Brady Street Garage. BIB permit holders will be allowed to enter and park one and one half hours prior to the start of the performance. Vehicles must have and display the 2012-2013 Broadway in Boise parking permit or they will be directed to park in downtown Boise parking areas.

Broadway In Boise Non-Subscriber Parking

Patrons who purchased single tickets to “Les Miserables” are to park in downtown parking lots and garages that have been reserved on behalf of the Morrison Center and Boise State’s Transportation & Parking Services.  Shuttle service will be provided from Downtown Boise to the Morrison Center (see details below).

Downtown Boise Public Parking at the Convention Lot

Parking will be available at no charge to Morrison Center attendees in the dirt lot bound by 11th and 13th streets to the east and west, and Front and Myrtle streets to the north and south. A shuttle will be provided to and from the Morrison Center starting at 11:30 a.m. from the Convention parking lot.

Downtown Public Parking Garages

Four downtown public parking garages will honor parking for “Les Miserables” patrons between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. These include: Myrtle Street Garage, City Centre Garage, Eastman Garage and Capitol Terrace Garage. The shuttle pick-up stop will be located on Front Street by Boise Centre and on Idaho Street between Capitol Boulevard and 8th Street on the north side of the streets. Caldwell Transportation yellow school buses will provide the services. Patrons will receive four hours of free parking when they present their coupon for payment upon exiting one of the four reserved downtown garages. Coupons can be picked up in advance at the Morrison Center box office, through e-mail or from the shuttle driver on arrival at the Morrison Center or on return to downtown.

A map of downtown public parking garages and shuttle service pick-up and drop-off locations is available on the Boise State Transportation & Parking Services website at http://transportation.boisestate.edu.

Free Downtown Shuttles

Shuttles will be provided to and from the event free of charge. Shuttles are scheduled to run from 11:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m., with return trips from 4:30-6:30p.m. Caldwell Transportation yellow school buses will provide the buses for service. The Morrison Center logo will be on the shuttle stop signs and on the shuttles to ensure your arrival to the Morrison Center. A shuttle will pick up from in front of the Convention lot near Front and 13th streets. Pick-up locations for downtown Boise garages will be located on Front Street by Boise Centre and on Idaho Street between Capitol Boulevard and 8th Street on the north side of the streets.

Alternative Transportation is Highly Encouraged

Boise State Transportation & Parking Services is hosting “Give Your Car a ‘Brake’ Day” on Sept. 20 and will have additional bike coral parking on campus off of Cesar Chavez Lane, nearest the Friendship Bridge behind the Library. Please take part in this alternative transportation day in any way by carpooling, walking, riding a bike or taking a shuttle.

Patrons attending both the matinee performance and the Boise State vs. BYU football game who park in downtown garages will be required to pay the $5 event rate fee for football upon exiting.
