Tom J. Hillard, assistant professor of English, recently gave a presentation at the 47th annual Western Literature Association conference in Lubbock, Texas, Nov. 7-10. The talk, titled “When the West Was East: Or, the Anxiety of Exhuming the Past,” was part of a featured plenary event celebrating the publication of Annette Kolodny’s new book, “In Search of First Contact: The Vikings of Vinland, the Peoples of the Dawnland, and the Anglo-American Anxiety of Discovery” (Duke UP, 2012).
