Tracy Bicknell-Holmes has been named the new dean of Albertsons Library, effective June 24. As dean, Bicknell-Holmes will provide leadership and advocacy for articulating a strategic digital-age vision for the library. She replaces Marilyn Moody, who moved to Portland State University in August 2012. Peggy Cooper has been serving as interim dean.
“I am delighted that Ms. Bicknell-Holmes will be leading Albertsons library into the future,” said Martin Schimpf, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “The energy and experience she brings from the University of Nebraska will strengthen the library’s mission to support faculty and students as they pioneer and navigate a new age of digital texts and mobile learning at Boise State University.”
Bicknell-Holmes comes to Boise State from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she serves as head of the Engineering Library and Patent & Trademark Resource Center. She currently is chair of the Nebraska Library Association and received its Meritorious Service Award in 2012. She earned a master of business administration degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and her master of science in library and information science from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Albertsons Library and Boise State University,” said Bicknell-Holmes. “Throughout the interview process, I was impressed with the energy and enthusiasm of everyone I met, with the changes the library has implemented to adapt to new user preferences and with Boise State’s aspirations to grow. I am flattered to have been asked to join such a dynamic institution and group of people.”
