Boise State University’s annual MLK Living Legacy Celebration kicks off with the Day of Greatness march and rally on Monday, Jan. 20. The general public is invited to meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom. The day includes making posters to carry down Capitol Boulevard for a rally on the Statehouse steps.
The rally concludes with official State of Idaho recognition of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Members of the MLK Living Legacy Committee, along with other student leaders, will speak.
The purpose of the annual celebration is to evoke a passion for human rights and to highlight Martin Luther King Jr.’s example of positive change while respecting others’ unique individuality and beliefs.
The schedule is as follows:
8:30 a.m., Student Union Jordan Ballroom
- Poster making (materials will be provided.)
- Meet representatives of local nonprofits
- Sign up to volunteer for future projects or charitable events
10:30 a.m., march down Capitol Boulevard
11:30 a.m., rally at the Idaho Statehouse
