The Boise State Children’s Center will be featured on the KIVI Channel 6 MDA Telethon on Sept. 7 during the 3:25-4:55 p.m. segment.
In April, the Children’s Center participated in the MDA’s annual Hop-A-Thon and raised a little more than $1,400 — the largest amount of money out of all of the child care centers that participated. The national program offers a weeklong disability awareness lesson plan, and hands-on activities for children with books, a video and other free educational materials.
Children were sponsored at either a flat rate or a pledged amount per hop. Parents helped count the number of hops, helped the children make frog and rabbit puppets and supervised children hopping on a mini trampoline. Video of the event will be shown along with a live interview with Melinda Butkus, assistant director of the Children’s Center.
