Shelton Woods, professor of history and interim associate dean of the Honors College, recently had two articles published. A column titled “How a history of colonial violence in the Philippines led to Duterte’s bloody rule” was published in the International Business Times (London) on Jan. 5. In it, Woods explains how Duterte’s image as a political maverick who intends to clean up the country’s lawlessness has struck a chord with citizens.
