The Greenbelt on the south side of the Boise River near the Broadway Bridge will be detoured starting Monday, Jan. 16, while the Idaho Transportation Department installs permanent pavement and railing on the path. The detour is expected to be in place for a couple of weeks.
Pedestrians and bicyclists will be detoured to the north side of the Greenbelt at the Broadway Bridge and Bay Brook Bridge. View a map of detour (PDF).
One lane of northbound Broadway Avenue will be closed between Longmont Avenue and the river during the paving. The lane restriction will give construction equipment enough room to access the Greenbelt.
Weather permitting, ITD will re-open the path in late January/early February. ITD opened the south Greenbelt path with temporary asphalt to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists during the warm weather months. Final paving was postponed until the winter, when Greenbelt traffic tends to be lower.
