Advising and Academic Enhancement

Staff from Advising and Academic Enhancement (AAE) presented at the 36th annual conference on The First-Year Experience in Atlanta, Georgia, this month. Associate Director Jillana Finnegan, Interim Assistant Director Alizabeth Gaddie and First-Year Experience Advisor Tiara Thompson presented “Unlocking the FYE Curriculum: Online, Self-Paced, Free, One-Credit Course After Orientation.”

The session provided an overview of the design, content development and assessment of Bronco Ready, a Blackboard course offered to all first-time Boise State students. The course was designed to reinforce orientation content and expose students to the resources, people, experiences and skills related to success in the first semester. In fall 2016, 2,438 students logged into the course, 761 completed at least one assignment, and 68 students completed enough assignments to earn an elective credit.
