Boise State Announces 2017 Summer Camps for Kids of All Ages

Photo of Boise State Kids Camp Participants on the B on the PlazaSummer is fast approaching and Boise State University is prepared to help keep kids and teens occupied and learning. A variety of day and residential camps encompass everything from sports to academics to the arts.

Following is a list of camps scheduled thus far. Please continue to check boisestate.edu for updates as they become available.

June 4-6, 2017
e-Camp – Grades 8-9. Students who are exiting 8th or 9th grade can use hands-on activities and projects involving problem solving and teamwork to explore careers in engineering and computer science while living on campus in a college dormitory. Activities may include engineering hydraulics, water resources, rock design build launch, snapcircuits, and more.  All food, housing and recreational activities are provided. Boise State Volleyball Hitter Training Camp. 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Ages: entering grades 9-12. Cost: $65. This camp offers the opportunity for players to focus on the skill of attacking. We will train proper jumping/landing technique, arm swing mechanics, as well as learn a variety of shots to keep the opponent off balance. June 5, 2017 
Boise State Volleyball Setter Training Camp. 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Ages: entering grades 9-12. Cost: $65. This camp is designed for the volleyball player who has club team and/or varsity experience. June 5, 2017 
Boise State Volleyball Libero Training Camp. 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Ages: entering grades 9-12. Cost: $65. This camp is designed for all levels of experience. Training focuses on passing technique, movement and platform control, serving location, and serving styles. June 5-7, 2017 
Boise State Football Youth Camp. 8:30 a.m. – noon. Ages 6-13. Cost: $160. The emphasis will be on developing your football skills at every position: kicker, punter, offensive/defensive line, quarterback, defensive back, running back and so on. In addition to the Bronco coaching staff, current Boise State players will actively coach and lead all participants in a series of individual drills each practice. June 5-7, 2017 
Boise State Youth Cheer and Spirit Camp. 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Ages 4-14. Cost: $60. Learn basic, intermediate and advanced cheerleading and dance skills. For more information or to register for this camp, please visit http://www.broncosports.com/camps/bosu-camps.html.

June 5-8, 2017 
Boise State Swimming Elite Summer Swim Camp. 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Ages 8-18. Cost: $290. This competitive swim camp is designed for swimmers who have a competitive background in swimming and are looking to enhance their skill and fitness in the pool. June 5-9, 2017
Chamber Music Camp. Grades 7-12, instrumental and vocal. Tuition is $250. On-site housing, meal ticket and private lesson options are available at additional cost. The camp curriculum includes small and large ensembles, music theory, camp choir, musical theatre, music appreciation, as well as master classes in string, woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, voice, jazz improvisation and more. Returning this year by popular demand is Total Percussion, providing instruction on keyboard percussion, snare drumming, set playing, marching band percussion and percussion ensemble performance for students with at least one year of percussion playing experience. The popular Chamber Camp Idol skit and talent extravaganza will be performed for family and friends on Thursday night. A Camp Finale concert is presented on Friday evening, where campers showcase what they have been working on over the week, and Camper awards are presented. June 5-23, 2017
Robotics in STEM Camp. Ages 9-14. Cost is $235. The camp runs from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Monday-Friday. Attendees will assemble different robots of Lego EV3 step-by-step. After participants get used to manipulating their robots, they will interact with them using mathematical, engineering and entertaining activities. Through making robots and doing various activities with them, participants will improve their creativity and problem-solving ability. June 5-23, 2017
Scratch in STEM Camp. Ages 9-14. Cost is $195. The camp runs from 10:40 a.m.-12:40 p.m. Monday-Friday. Attendees will make their own games using Scratch drag-drop type of programming. After they create and edit images, sound and animation they will create a small game. They will proceed further with animation and expand their skills in programming using math functions and scientific knowledge. They are expected to develop structural and systematical programming, leading to the improvement of problem solving and logical thinking. Let’s create your own fun game! Athlete Performance Academy (APA). Ages 12-18. Cost is $189. The program runs from 10-11:15 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Athlete Performance Academy (APA) relies on age-appropriate strength training to create a model-learning environment to help athletes increase fitness by providing tools and specialized weightlifting program design to help improve muscular strength, power and endurance. APA uses evidence-based programs, National Strength and Conditioning Association guidelines, and experienced staff to provide a comprehensive approach to training. Our staff is very passionate about athlete conditioning and will organize daily activities to develop the youth athlete and ensure proper technique and progression. We provide a knowledgeable, safe and effective environment to support the athletes. With a holistic mindset to training, we can provide athletes with an all-around beneficial experience that can enhance their athletic portfolio. Intermediate Training Volleyball Camp – Session 1. 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Ages: entering grades 7-9. Cost: $200. High School Team Beach Volleyball Camp. Ages: entering grades 9-12. Cost: $50 per player, max of 10 players per school. Campers will learn the different rules and skills required to be a successful beach volleyball player while competing with their teammates against other schools in both team and pairs competitions. Boise State Kicking/Specialist Camp. 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. High School Students entering 9th–12th grades and College Aged Prospects. Cost: $150. The 2017 Boise State Football Kickers & Specialist Camp will take place on the Blue turf of Bronco Stadium. Instruction and drill work will be conducted by Boise State special teams coach Kent Riddle, and also include a number of guest coaches with Division I collegiate or NFL experience. June 9-10, 2017
e-Girls – Grades 9-11. 
e-Girls is a free overnight program for girls exiting 9th, 10th and 11th grade. Enrollment is limited to 50 girls. Workshops led by Society of Women Engineers professionals and college students may include prosthetic hand design, biomechanics, transportation, packaging and the environment, computer programming with scratch, virtual worlds with Alice, physics of rock climbing, a world of career choices and more. June 9-10, 2017
Boise State Swimming – Starts and Turns Camp. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday. Ages 8-18. Cost: $130. This camp is designed to help swimmers specifically focus on the aspects of the swimming start and turns. The camp will be lead by head coach Jeremy Kipp who over the last 16 years has worked with some of the premier sprinters in the world. Kipp has worked with swimmers like Vlad Morozov, Santo Condorelli, Kasey Carlson and Jessica Hardy among others. Come to camp and learn some of the techniques used to get off the blocks faster and get through your turns with true speed. June 10-11, 2017 
Boise State Football – High School Elite Camp. 10th-12th graders to be, recent high school graduates and junior college prospects. Cost: Day Campers – $95, Overnight Campers – $175. The purpose of our Elite Camp is to make everyone who attends a better football player. We emphasize championship technique in the game of football and life, to give each player and team attending the competitive edge. Through selected non-contact drills our goal is to improve a young player’s performance in the game of football. Campers will be able to receive personalized instruction from the Boise State football coaching staff. Boise State Soccer Camp – Session 1. Half Day: 5-13 years old 9-11:30a.m. $150; Full Day: 7-13 years old 9a.m.-3p.m. $250. Boise State Soccer invites you to join our current staff and players for a week of soccer fun, entertainment and learning! All levels of ability are welcomed and encouraged to take part in a wonderful program designed to inspire and challenge our young, up and coming players. Players will be groups with like ability or age in order to set the level of the instruction. Groups will be kept to coach/player ratio of 1:10/12. Kinesiology Summer Youth Sports Program. Participant ages: Children 5 – 14 years of age, all levels of ability and skills welcome. Swim classes are designed for all ages while others focus on a specific age range. Cost : $70.00  for each 50 minute 3 week class. Classes are 50 minutes in length and held Monday through Friday for three weeks. We offer a wide variety of activities including Basketball, Gymnastics, Rock Climbing, Swimming, and much more. Summer Academy Elementary Academy Program. Grades 2-6. Cost is $795 ($750 early registration March 1-20). Monday-Thursday. Summer Academy is an affordable, convenient high-quality, full-time academic/adventure day-camp for students. It is a theme-based program that provides academic enrichment of the basic elementary school curriculum. Students work together through a hands-on approach to activities, such as arts and crafts, science experiments, swim lessons, trips to the public library, computer instruction and physical fitness. Boise State Football – Renegade and Team Camp. Grades: 10th-12th graders to be, recent high school graduates, and junior college prospects. Price: $175 for Overnight; $95 for Day Camper. For players looking for contact drills, extensive position work and 11-on-11 scrimmage situations. The three and a half day Renegade and Team Camp is a padded, contact camp that contains individual position work, skill development, 7-on-7 round robin games and team scrimmages. Individual campers can attend the camp, and referred to as Renegades. Renegades will be teamed together to form rosters and compete during scrimmages and team focused practice periods. The Renegade teams will be coached by members of the Boise State coaching staff and guest coaches. Boise State Basketball High Intensity Skill Development Camp 1. 9 a.m.-noon. Ages: boys entering grades 7-12. Cost: $125. This camp is set up separately from the normal Individual Development Camp and geared towards helping the serious and competitive basketball player develop. There is a limited number of spots to ensure individual instruction and intensity level remains high. High Intensity Skill Development Camp will consist of boy athletes entering seventh through twelfth grade. Summer Literacy Academy. Grades Kindergarten-6. Cost is $480. The camp runs from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Summer Literacy  Academy focuses on helping students find the joy in reading again, as well as beat the summer slide. This four-week academy includes thematic instruction, small group activities, drama, art and so much more. This program is extremely student oriented as each student will be assessed to identify needs, and teachers will develop instruction based on the needs of each individual student. Boise State Soccer Elite College ID Camp. 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Cost: Residential $515; Commuter $415. Girls 9th-12th grade. Looking for an opportunity to prepare yourself for NCAA collegiate athletics? Boise State is offering a unique insight not only into the Boise State Soccer program but also in the intricacies of NCAA Division 1, 2, 3 and NAIA competition. All ability levels welcome. Trombone Camp. Grades 6-12. The mission of the trombone and euphonium camp is to provide an environment for trombone and euphonium students to make music with their peers and develop the proper skills needed to excel. Students will have the opportunity to break into focus groups based on their grade level. They also may enter specialized clinics that cover topics like fundamentals, chamber music, warm up techniques, jazz improvisation, instrument care, proper embouchure, breathing and buzzing. New this year, we are hosting guest artists Tromboteam. Members of Tromboteam are professional artists from across the country. They will serve as the camp faculty this summer. Third Annual 5-A-Side Soccer Competition. Ages U8-U14, boys and girls, high school gold and silver bracket. The perfect event for a summers day! Come and play on Boise State Soccer’s game field! The program will be rounded out by open instruction throughout the day enabling you to not only learn form the Boise State soccer coaches but also rub shoulders with the current players!
