Help Boise State commemorate the 200th anniversary of the invention of the bicycle and Idaho bicycle history. The Student Union Fine Arts Gallery seeks to showcase original works and artifacts for an exhibit August-September titled “The Evolution of the Bicycle: Influence in Social Movements.”

The exhibit will display a brief history and evolution of the bicycle, including its influences on social movements such as women’s pants, bikes, advertising and the suffragette movement. A timeline of Boise’s bicycling community will be integral to the exhibit.

The gallery is accepting exhibition submissions until Friday, July 28. Any bicycle related work is eligible for submission. Paintings, vintage or contemporary photos, posters, historical artifacts, sculptures, used bike part sculptures, mixed media, sketches, prints, digital media, book art and crafts are examples of accepted media.

For a full list of entry requirements, please visit the fine arts gallery website: https://finearts.boisestate.edu/open-calls-artists/

Please submit artwork with the title, media, dimensions and sale price (if applicable) in a line under each file and upload to Michelle Estrada at michelleestrada@boisestate.edu. Estrada also is available to answer questions related to the exhibit.
