Johnson has been an educational specialist for the programs since 2008 and served many of the target schools. She also worked as a residential mentor for the TRIO Upward Bound programs.
Johnson is a native of Bulgaria, completed an MBA from Boise State and is currently a doctoral student in the educational leadership program. She is a first-generation college graduate with a strong commitment to educational equity, access and support in higher education.
The TRIO ETS programs serve 22 schools across the Treasure Valley and help students in grades 8-12 prepare for and enroll in college and technical programs. The TRIO programs began nationally in 1965 with three programs, giving TRIO its name. Boise State now houses 10 TRIO programs including two ETS, four Upward Bound, Student Support Service, TRIO Teacher Prep, McNair Scholars and Veterans Upward Bound.
