The campus community is invited to celebrate with Angela Garcia, management assistant for the School of Allied Health Sciences, as she retires after more than 30 years of service to Boise State. The celebration will begin at 3 p.m. Aug. 24 in the Bishop Barnwell Room at the Student Union Building.
A short presentation will kick off the festivities with an open mic for comments, experiences and funny stories from anyone who has known and worked with Garcia. Cake will be served following the sharing time. Visitation will be open until 5 p.m.
Garcia was hired by the State of Idaho in 1975 and joined Boise State University in 1986. During her Boise State employment, Garcia has gained a diverse background in providing administrative support while working for the following units:
- Intercollegiate Athletics
- Department of Music
- College of Business
- College of Applied Technology
- Department of Community and Environmental Health
- School of Allied Health Sciences
Garcia is a member of the Boise State University Educational Office Professionals (AOP), has served as AOP president from 1998-1999, and was named AOP Office Professional of the Year and Idaho Association of Educational Office Professional of the year in 1999 and 2001, respectively. Garcia currently serves as the president-elect of the Idaho Association of Educational Office Professionals. In 2012 Garcia was recognized by the College of Health Science with the Excellence in Staff Service award.
