As part of the Faculty Artist Series, music professor Del Parkinson will perform a piano program titled “That’s Amore!” in the Morrison Center recital hall Sept. 7 and 10. The concert celebrates the universal topic of love in selections by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt and American composers George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein.
The performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, and 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10. Admission is $7 adults, $5 seniors, and free for students and Boise State faculty and staff.
The program will blend narration with live performance. After discussing the significance of each piece, Parkinson will perform the masterworks.
“Love has fascinated, motivated, and dazzled human beings for centuries,” Parkinson said. “These pieces aspire to express the inexpressible!”
Parkinson is professor of piano at Boise State University. He has recorded seven CDs and is recognized on the international roster of Steinway artists.
