Gordon Jones, Venture College Headline Boise Startup Week Entrepreneurial Celebration

Gordon Jones, founding dean of Boise State’s College of Innovation + Design (CI+D) and former managing director at the Harvard i-Lab, will provide unique insights about cultivating successful entrepreneurs and ecosystems in his Boise Start Up Week keynote address at noon Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Boise Centre West. The address, titled An Insider Perspective on Successful Entrepreneurs and Ecosytems, will draw on his 25 years of innovation experience spanning startups to Fortune 500 companies across multiple industries.

Preparations are also under way as the Venture College readies to host the first edition of the Boise Start Up Week Pitch Competition.

“We’re pleased that the Venture College was selected to host this great event in what promises to be the largest entrepreneurial celebration in the state,” said Mike Sumpter, Venture College director. The Venture College is also hosting breakout sessions on marketing a startup, HR for startups and IP Concerns for startups as well as a facility tour for high school students. Sumpter, who is serving on the panel of judges for the event, added: “This is an outstanding opportunity to showcase our programs and facility to new friends and prospective students”.

Organizers encourage early registration as sessions are expected to fill. Multiple ticket options are available, including:

General admission. No charge. Includes access to all BSW events (as capacity allows).

Supporter. $55. Same as general admission plus lunch at the Thursday and Friday keynotes plus BSW T Shirt.

Student pass. No charge. Same as general admission plus swag bag.

VIP pass. $149. Access to VIP areas at Block Party and VR Bash plus early access to VR Bash (to avoid lines). Also includes BSW swag bag, T-shirt and hat. Lunch Thursday and Friday at the Grove and four drink tickets (good at all applicable events).

Premium pass (limit 15). $299. VIP pass plus a Google Daydream VR Headset plus private meet and greet with Robert Scoble at the VR Bash.
