Liljana Babinkostova was invited by the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) to serve on the planning committee for the 2017 CUR Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Symposium, the national meeting of the all REU programs funded by the National Science Foundation and across all disciplines. The symposium will take place Oct. 22-24 in West Alexandria, Virginia.

The core events at the symposium include student poster presentations, as well as a variety of professional development opportunities, plenary presentations and networking sessions provided to both students and faculty mentors. The student presenters at the symposium are students that demonstrate the successes of the REU programs they represent.

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR), founded in 1978, is a national organization that supports and promote undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship. In planning and envisioning the future of undergraduate research, CUR focus on integrating and building undergraduate research into curriculum, assessing the outcomes of undergraduate research, expanding undergraduate research opportunities beyond academic institutions and in international settings, as well as increasing the diversity in undergraduate research.
