Michele Carney, Laurie Cavey and Gwyneth Hughes from the University of Wisconsin-Madison recently published an article in the Elementary School Journal titled “Assessing Teacher Attentiveness to Student Mathematical Thinking: Validity Claims and Evidence.” Their article illustrates an argument-based approach to presenting validity evidence for assessment items intended to measure teachers’ ability to analyze and respond to students’ mathematical thinking.
