On Nov. 3, Karen Pinto gave the keynote address at Cornell University to open the 2017 Terra Digita Conference, “Digital Approaches to Medieval Maps and Mapping.”

Pinto presented her digital work with Islamic maps in a talk titled “From Satellite to Site: Ways of Mapping Medieval Islamic Maps.”

Her talk was well received and she still is fielding responses. The Quodlibet society that sponsored her talk also gave her a gift of a hand-carved wooden street map of Cornell, which she can be seen holding in the accompanying photo.
