The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) will host the annual Great Ideas for Teaching and Learning Symposium Jan. 3, 2018. This year’s theme is “Better Supporting Student Learning.” To help explore this topic, the CTL has invited accomplished scholar, teacher and speaker Valerie Purdie Greenaway from Columbia University as the keynote facilitator. She will explore ways to identity threats that influence student development, achievement and performance, and what faculty can do about it.
Greenaway’s plenary session, “From Stereotype Threat to Inclusive Pedagogy: How a Small Group of Psychologists Changed the Narrative on Closing Achievement Gaps,” will be followed by lunch. Then, join colleagues for a poster session as they share and celebrate teaching and learning stories, strategies or activities that have worked well with students and more. Breakout sessions will be held after the poster session. Learn more about the agenda for the day and register online. All Boise State faculty, staff and administrators are invited to attend.
