Summer Camps Planned for all Ages

Photo of Boise State Kids Camp Participants on the B on the PlazaSummer is fast approaching and Boise State University is prepared to help keep kids and teens occupied and learning. A variety of day and residential camps encompass everything from sports to academics to the arts.

Following is a list of camps scheduled thus far.

June 3-5, 2018
e-Camp – Grades 7-9. Students who are exiting 7 th , 8th or 9th grade can use hands-on activities and projects involving problem solving and teamwork to explore careers in engineering, and computer science while living on campus in a college dormitory. Participants and supervised and mentored by current engineering students. Activities may include Engineering Hydraulics, Water Resources, Rocket Design Build Launch, SnapCircuits, and more. All food, housing and recreational activities are provided. Cost – $250 (scholarships available based on need) $300 after May 1. The program begins June 3 at 2 p.m., and ends June 5 at 5 p.m. Enrollment is limited to 50. Priority deadline is May 1st. Register on-line: http://coen.boisestate.edu/k-12/summer- programs/.

June 4-8, 2018
Boise State University Summer Chamber Music Camp. For young musicians playing band and orchestra instruments, piano or voice who will be in grades 7-12 for the 2018-19 school year. The camp runs approximately 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. daily. Camp tuition is $250. On-site housing, meal ticket and private lesson options are available at additional cost. The camp curriculum includes small and large ensembles, music theory, camp choir, musical theatre, music appreciation, as well as master classes in string, woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, voice, jazz improvisation and more. Returning this year by popular demand is our “Total Percussion,” providing instruction on keyboard percussion, snare drumming, set playing, marching band percussion, and percussion ensemble performance for students with at least one year of percussion playing experience. Our popular “Chamber Camp Idol” skit and talent extravaganza will be performed for family and friends on Thursday night. A “Camp Finale” concert is presented on Friday evening, where Campers showcase what they have been working on over the week, and Camper awards are presented. There is no admission charge for the Finale Concert. Applications are available through area school music teachers, at http://music.boisestate.edu or by email at BSUChamberCamp@boisestate.edu. June 4-9, 2018
Elite Swim Camp. Boys and girls, ages 8-18. Join Boise state Swimming Teams this summer for a 4 and a half day competitive swim camp that will be open for swimmers ages 8-18. This swimming camp will be coached by the Boise State Swimming Head coach Jeremy Kipp and Assistant Coach and former USA National Team Member Meghan Hawthorne. Members of the Boise State swimming team will also be employed as camp counselors and will be helping with the daily coaching duties. June 8-9, 2018
Boise State Swimming Start and Turn Camp. Boys and girls, ages 8-18. Cost: $130. This camp is designed to help swimmers specifically focus on the aspects of the swimming start and turns.
The camp will be lead by head Jeremy Kipp who over the last 16 years has worked with some of the premier sprinters in the World. Kipp has worked with swimmers like Vlad Morozov, Santo Condorelli, Kasey Carlson and Jessica Hardy among others. Come to camp and learn some of the techniques used to get off the blocks faster and get through your turns with true speed. June 8-9, 2018
e-Girls – Grades 9-11. e-Girls is a free overnight program for girls exiting 9th, 10th, and 11th grade. Enrollment is limited to 50 girls. Participants and supervised and mentored by current engineering students. Workshops led by Society of Women Engineer professionals and college students may include: Nuclear Forensics, Materials Science Resin Casting, Innovative Technology, Explore Biology, Transportation and YOU, Prosthetic Hand Design, Biomechanics, Computer Programming, Physics of Rock Climbing, A World of Career Choices, and more! The program begins June 8

Elite Individual Camp. For boys, grades 10-JC prospects. The purpose of our Elite Camp is to make everyone who attends a better football player. We emphasize championship technique in the game of football and life, to give each player and team attending the competitive edge. Through selected non-contact drills, our goal is to improve a young player’s performance in the game of football. Campers will be able to receive personalized instruction from the Boise State football coaching staff. We stress individual technique and football fundamentals, which will allow campers to return to their respective programs with an improved understanding. June 11-13, 2018
Football Youth Camp. Boys and girls ages 6-13. Cost: $160. The Boise State Football coaching staff is excited to give you the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of every phase of football: offense, defense, and special teams. The emphasis will be on developing your football skills at every position: kicker, punter, offensive/defensive line, quarterback, defensive back, running back, and so on. In addition to the Bronco coaching staff, current Boise State players will actively coach and lead all participants in a series of individual drills each practice. Youth Cheer and Dance Spirit Camp. Ages 4-14. Cost: $65 per person. Learn basic, intermediate and advanced cheerleading and dance skills. Summer DanceFest Workshop. 
Ages 12 and older, must audition or be accepted to the workshop to attend. Cost range from $150- $520 depending on how many classes are taken. Summer DanceFest 2018 offers the highest quality training for today’s dancer during two weeks of intensive training in ballet, pointe, men’s class, pas de deux, jazz and modern. Summer Youth Sports Program – Session 1. The Summer Youth Sports Program, sponsored by the Kinesiology Department, opens registration for our summer programs on April 9, 2018. We offer more than 20 traditional (e.g., Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Gymnastics, Swimming) and non-traditional (e.g., Quidditch, Lacrosse, Disc Golf, Mountain Biking Basics, Billiards, Rock Climbing) physical activities for children between 5-14 years of age. Most classes cost $88 for the entire session, with few exceptions (Take 5, our supervised lunch period, and our 2-hr classes). Children of all abilities and skill levels are welcome! Our program will be offered over two 3-week sessions (Session 1: June 11- June 29 and Session 2: July 9 – July 27). Football Showcase and Team Camp. Boys, grades 9-JC prospects. For players looking for contact drills, extensive position work and 11-on-11 scrimmage situations. The three and a half day camp is a padded, contact camp that contains individual position work, skill development 7-on-7 round robin games and team scrimmages. Individual campers can attend the camp and will be put together to form team rosters and compete during scrimmages and team-focused practice periods. These teams will be coached by members of the Boise State coaching staff and guest coaches. Attendees will participate in a variety of hands-on activities to solve a variety of financial challenges. Earning, spending, saving and investing – get your insiders knowledge at Camp CashEd. Camp CashEd missions include activities to Build Wealth over the Long Term, Investing in Human Capital and Education, Budgeting, Credit, Risk and Return on Investment, Alternative Financial Institutions, Stocks, Bonds, Stock Market Fundamentals, and Forecasting the Future. Topics are presented in a way youth can understand and engage. Each day of the camp brings new financial challenges to overcome. Residential ID Camp. Girls of all abilities from 8th grade to collegiate athletes are welcome. Looking for an opportunity to prepare for NCAA collegiate athletics? Boise State is offering a unique insight not only into the Boise State Soccer program but also to the intricacies of NCAA Division 1, 2, 3 and NAIA competition. Technical and tactical sessions will be designed to highlight the different in lens at the collegiate level. Each day will involve opportunities for players to showcase their abilities in a variety of match scenarios. All this will be combined with a fun, educational and interactive environment showcasing what Boise State Soccer is all about. All sessions run by current Boise State coaching staff. July 9-13 GenCyber Cybersecurity Summer Camp for Idaho High School Students (Girls Only). Grades 9-12.  Free (application required). Accepted participants will receive meals during the camp. Underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply. Computer Science faculty and staff will introduce and cement knowledge of cybersecurity first principles, increase the curiosity of the participants about the field of cybersecurity, encourage participants to seek further education in cybersecurity and motivate participants to seek a career in cybersecurity. The camp will be held in the new computer science facility in downtown Boise (Clearwater Building, City Center Plaza). Finishing and Goalkeeping Academy 2. Open to all boys and girls aged 10-18. Runs 4-5:15 p.m. What better way to refine your skills for the upcoming fall leagues and high school seasons by focusing on your finishing at the Boas Soccer Complex. Lead by the current Boise State coaching staff, players will be exposed to a high rep, instant feedback environment, with this iteration focused heavily on crossing and finishing. From curling and standing up crosses, to diving headers and overhead volleys, players will receive insight into the intricacies of scoring at the highest level. Cost: $225. Elite Training Volleyball Camp. Incoming 10-12 graders. Cost: Commuter – $305, Resident – $365. The Elite Training Camp is designed for the volleyball player who has high level club team and/or varsity experience to receive high level training. Our staff will challenge players, with an emphasis on refining technique and learning the tactical aspects of the game through high level competition. This session is ideal for the experienced player who strives to be the best and continue their playing career beyond high school. We expect players that attend this session to be serious about their development as a volleyball player. A positive attitude and outstanding work ethic are a must in this environment.
