Greg Hampikian, a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Criminal Justice, and the director of the Idaho Innocence Project, was recently in Tel Aviv, Eliat, and Beer Sheba, Israel, where he taught principles of forensic DNA science to judges and lawyers.

His host, Tomer Urinov, a judge, had spent time in Hampikian’s Boise lab and arranged the training seminars in Israel.

“We were treated so warmly everywhere we went. I made a lot of new friends and gained about 10 pounds,” said Hampikian. “I hope this is the start of a larger training and exchange program between my lab and our colleagues across the Middle East.”

Hampikian also participated in a law enforcement training in Abu Dhabi earlier in 2018.
